New Installations for our K-12 Schools!

Earlier this year we wrote about a much desired and needed building project for our K-12 schools here on the mission base. The construction has been in process, and is due to be ready by the start of the schools on August 29th. Wonderful enabling Lord! Let us explain a little bit.

Some years ago a nationalized Mexican high school (grades 10-12, la Prepa, short for Preparatoria, or Preparatory school) was created on the mission base. Our village has no high school, and a Christianity based high school was very much desired for our older children and staff, also accommodating boarders from our indigenous areas. This school uses Spanish curriculum. Ten years ago the next felt need for our many base staff children was for a Christian K-12 school. One of our base staff people, Paulina Martínez, had the vision and began the school. Soon after the decision was made to use an all English curriculum, giving a bilingual education to our children, a real advantage for them. We have graduated three generations of students so far, all of them speaking English and, of course, their native Spanish. Most of these are now taking university courses including engineering, school teacher, Bible school, medical school, etc. They will be leaders and light and salt to their generation here in Mexico!

I, David, supervise both of these schools, and this year the school’s founder, Paulina Martínez has returned to be our principal again! God’s evident provision over and over!

Last year we clearly saw the need for Spanish instruction also for some incoming K-12 students since those wanting to enroll their eight year olds and older were unable to assimilate into the all English curriculum. We were also at maximum occupancy in our schools, spread out into three different buildings. It was painful to have to say no to those who desperately wished their children to learn with us! We saw that the timing was right for building a second floor on top of the main school building, and the Lord is providing through gracious people who understand the importance of a Christian based education for our and our  town’s many children. This report is to let you see some of the progress up to now, and with great thanksgiving to the Lord and to those who are contributing. In the photos here you’ll be able to see the building progress and a general idea of its layout. But there are also a multitude of unseen things, such as furniture, an enlarged playground and its materials, books and learning aids, all that’s needed for a quality school to function well.

Click on a photo, and then you can scroll through the rest. When it’s finished we’ll be sending some more photos so you can rejoice with us!

We have many more things to write about, outreaches, visiting teams, etc., but we will limit this blog to the schools’ expansions. God’s kindest blessings to you in this season!
