Blog Report January – June 2023

Greetings to all in the Mighty Name of Jesus! Below are pictorial highlights from our visiting teams and village outreaches over the last few months. God continues to move bringing people to Himself as His name is lifted up here in southern Mexico!

Rudy and Xenia from Germany, graduates of the Roca Blanca Spanish School, serving among the Tarahumara Indians in northern Mexico.
Dr. Dave Ness examining a patient in San Martín, a Chatino village about 20 minutes from the missions base.
Dr. Mary Kay with an American patient with a quite severe medical problem who we met in Malucano near Puerto Escondido. Early diagnosis is quite important with the problem he had, so it seemed it was a God thing that he happened upon our clinic that day.
The Mercy and Truth team on a home visit with Dr. Mary Kay in Cacalote.
Ralph Classen giving a consult in La Boquilla with Grace Hernandez (medical student) translating. La Boquilla is one of our target villages where we are currently planting a church among the Afro-Mexican population.
Ann Classen teaching in a cooking class in the Trade School.
The Emmanuel Mennonite Church in an open-air service in the village of La Boquilla.
Dr. Lauren Vieira with Dr. Adriana Infanzón giving dental care to a Mixtec man in the village of El Mosco. This patient and his family were the first believers in this region, having been baptized 23 years ago.
Dr. Warren Rich, a missionary dentist in Africa for many years, now living in North Carolina, also attended patients in the village of El Mosco and helped Dr. Adriana get good x-ray equipment set up in her office in the Corban Clinic and mentored her in offering orthodontic work in the clinic.
The Hope Alive team ministering in San Martín, a Chatino village.
St. James Church (Tulsa, OK) in a morning devotional time in El Mosco.
The Mercy and Truth team donated a portable EKG machine for Dr. Enver’s use in the clinic. What a blessing!
Dr. Denise Roddy giving an eye exam in the Corban Clinic for a student from our Multigrade School.
A team from Hutchinson, KS led by Charles and Eli Norton ministering in the village of Mechoacán.
Grace Hernandez, a second-year medical student whom some of you have sown into. She is a big help in the clinic when she is out on breaks and works with us.
Dr. Enver Velasco giving consults at Puerto Angel.
Pastor Don Elliott from Grace Chapel in Pickwick, TN preaching at new church construction site in Puerto Angel.
Kim and Kelly Edge from Grace Chapel with translators Melody and Alex giving spiritual care during clinic in Puerto Angel.
Puerto Angel construction team continuing to work with the cement mixer the Grace Chapel team donated. The Grace Chapel construction team worked extremely hard and made great progress on the church building!
Sterling College (Kansas) team members doing home visits while distributing food packs.

Women´s Bible Study group that Laura, Gryss, and Karen are teaching once a week in a home in Cacalote. The roses are because this was a special Mother’s Day celebration.

Gateway Church young adults (Dallas, TX) ministering to the children in El Mosco.
Nurses Betty and Elo from the clinic staff working the pharmacy at an outreach in La Boquilla, one of the new church plants. We usually see about 100 patients in a one-day outreach in La Boquilla.
Young lady and her grandmother from La Boquilla.
This young lady was recently converted from a life of addictions to drugs and alcohol to a new creation in Christ Jesus! She devoted herself to care for her elderly grandmother whom she presented to us at one of our outreaches. When I returned recently and greeted her, she shared with me the news that her grandmother had passed away. Even though she was sad, she continued on pursuing God and serving with the new mission there. We are proud of her for not going back to old ways, but continuing on with the Lord! The new church plant in La Boquilla can help many new converts like herself to become grounded in the Word and to grow and flourish there!

Dr. Enver Velasco Cuevas, his wife Karen

Those of you who have been down in recent years have met Dr. Enver and Karen. They are a powerful and gifted couple, serving both in the leadership of the clinic – Dr. Enver being the medical director of the clinic ministry, and his wife Karen being the administrator – and they also pastor our local church.

Ruben Merino Hernandez and his wife, Dr. Adriana

Most of you also know Dr. Adriana, our dentist in the Corban Clinic, and her husband Ruben. Ruben is a teacher and assistant to Dave in the direction of the Spanish School, and also is a musician in Roca Blanca´s band and teaches in the music school. They both are extremely talented and very active in ministry are a tremendous asset in both the Clinic Ministry and the Spanish School.
Having such gifted team members as Dr. Enver, Karen, Ruben, and Dr. Adriana to help lead the work takes a tremendous load off of us. We foresee the vision of the clinic expanding under their leadership in a number of areas, one of those being in the area of Health Education.

NURSING SCHOOL COMING!

A new development in the clinic is that plans are being made to offer a Health Workshop for Bible School students, and the groundwork is being laid to begin a Nursing School as an extension of the work of the Corban Clinic. We plan to begin first with a technical school, with the option of later expanding to train professional registered nurses. This will not only prepare more health workers for medical outreaches and give them this tool to serve others in their communities, but will also give them an opportunity to find work to help support themselves and their families. It is a great opportunity for the young people in our communities!

There is a new Trade School facility being constructed on the Missions Base, and a portion of this building will be devoted to the Health Workshop and Nursing School. The building is underway, and approximately $50,000 US dollars is the estimate for the Nursing School area of this building. Below is a virtual tour of the nursing school facility.

You all have been extremely generous in giving to other projects in our ministry and to the ongoing work of the clinic, for which we are very grateful! We present this need to make you aware of the opportunity to sow specifically into this new Health Education facility. If you desire to give a designated gift, that may be done by sending it to our Roca Blanca Missions office in Hutchinson, KS:
