Cost

How much does the school cost?

Registration fee is $50 dollars US to be sent in at the same time as your Application. This is a one-time, per student, non-refundable fee, and is not a part of the tuition. Tuition is $600 USD for each session per student (or the Mexican Peso equivalent). Each level session runs for seven consecutive weeks. All necessary materials are included.

This can be paid in Mexican pesos equivalent here at the Spanish school, or in US dollars to:

Roca Blanca Missions Spanish, PO Box 1101, Hutchinson, KS 67504-1101.

If you pay by check, please clearly designate that it’s for your course costs at Roca Blanca Spanish Language School, along with your name. Or you can make the payment by PayPal using the button below if you prefer. Once you log in you can click on “Who does this payment apply to?” to enter your name and your reason for paying.

In order to help process your payment in a timely manner, and to receive your tax deductible receipt for your payments you’ll need to give consent to include your mailing address where indicated on the PayPal form.

Another option is to pay using Venmo. It is necessary to note that this is for the Spanish School, and which student it is designated for.

What about housing?

1-3 Bedroom House: $120-$150/month (all prices in US dollars)

1 room Apartment: $120-$150/month

1 Bedroom with a host family (some meals included): $120-$150/month

1 Bedroom for two people with a host family (some meals included): $160-$180/month

For the houses and apartments there will be a cost for electricity, as well – usually between $20-$40/month, depending on your usage. These houses and host family homes are furnished with the basics, and located in El Cacalote, the coastal village that the school is located in. We’re happy to secure a house or apartment for you. Rented rooms with Mexican families are for single students or couples without children. There are some photos under the ‘Rental Homes and Apartments’ menu on the FAQs page, if you’re interested.

There is an on-premises guesthouse where lodging is sometimes available for short periods only, and also a nice hotel ten minutes from us, both with air conditioning and kitchens, for those who don’t wish to live in the more rustic conditions of our village. Costs are considerably more (about eight times more) than in our village, with availability and cost given on request. If you desire to be in Puerto Escondido (30-40 minute drive from the school) then that can be arranged as well. Public transport is excellent, reliable, and inexpensive. However, the costs for lodging are higher in Puerto Escondido. Tell us about your needs and we will assist you in locating adequate housing.

Other costs

For those arriving at the Puerto Escondido airport (PXM) there is no pick up charge. There is a charge of $120 US, or its Mexican peso equivalent, per vehicle for pickup for those arriving at and/or leaving from the Huatulco airport (HUX). More information on travel routes and methods can be found on the FAQ’s page from the link above.

Occasional ministry trips into coastal or mountain villages are “culture days”, as well as visits to other cultural sites during your class session, since they count as an integral part of your learning. We share the costs of these trips among all who participate, often medical personnel and others. These costs are not covered in the regular tuition. A typical village trip of three to four days will cost around $35 US per person, which includes travel, food, and sleeping arrangements; the other trips considerably less. They are wonderful experiences, and well worth doing!

Who benefits?

Of course, the student is the main beneficiary, with both the academic depth and Christian encouragement that is part of the DNA of the Roca Blanca Spanish Language School! But it pleases us to report that we donate all the profit, after salaries and operating expenses, to the Corban Clinic’s medical ministry, to the Roca Blanca base’s ministry expenses, or to our bilingual Multigrade School. We couldn’t be happier to be sowing into these worthy ministries!

“This has been a wonderful experience! The Roca Blanca Mission Base is so beautiful. All the staff and workers are full of love and compassion. It is impossible to leave without being touched by God.”
