November 2019
I’ve been thinking about seasons. We are moving to a new place where there aren’t many seasons – only Dry and Rainy. The temperature doesn’t change a whole lot throughout the year in Oaxaca. I’m going to miss the seasons. Some more than others. I bet you can guess which ones!
We are in a new season as a family. It is a short season, like spring and fall are in Minnesota. There are some things that we are enjoying, like time with family, connecting with old friends, and not having every moment of every day scheduled out, just to name a few.
We have said goodbye to a Summer season in our life. Our time at Bethel Christian Fellowship was filled with some amazing times of joy, life and ministry. It was the perfect place for our family for the last nearly 10 years.
These last few months have felt like the Autumn season. Things were appearing to die. We said goodbye to Radiate Student Ministries in early September. I said goodbye to a job that I loved. I said goodbye to lots of tools that I use on a regular basis. We’re in the process of saying goodbye to friends and family. Although people will still be in our life, how we relate on a day to day basis will certainly be different.
It’s a strange place to be in. A season where we are simply preparing for the next seasons – Spring and Summer once again in Oaxaca. I’m ready to jump into what is next already.
I know that in the natural, we have to prepare for the next season. We have to put the garden shovels away and get out the snow shovels. Yet often times no matter how late in the season the first big snowfall comes, we aren’t really prepared for it. I know there are certain aspects of the next season that no matter how prepared we feel, will hit us hard.
Pray for us as we prepare for the next season! Only a few more weeks until we move into Summer weather, physically as well as spiritually.
We spent the remainder of November in New York State visiting friends, family, and the church where Ben served for 5 years before we moved to Minnesota. See pictures below!
We will begin our journey to Cacalote, Oaxaca on December 29th. Some exciting things have happened already in December… but we’ll wait to post about those until closer to departure.
Blessings!! …and thank you for your prayers.
Ben
